Arsenal are struggling to keep hold of a young centre-forward amid interest from Chelsea and multiple German clubs, according to reports.

The Gunners have an effective academy which is constantly breeding new talent. Recent graduates include Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Folarin Balogun.

Saka, 20, is already a staple of Mikel Arteta’s starting lineup. He is on three goals and three assists during 18 matches so far this campaign.

Smith Rowe is also proving to have a huge impact. He goals in three consecutive league wins against Villa, Leicester and Watford earlier this term.

The playmaker was also on the scoresheet during the 3-2 defeat to Man Utd at Old Trafford.

Balogun, meanwhile, is behind the other two youngsters in terms of game time. He has little chance of usurping Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette up front as things stand.

He has spent the majority of the season playing for Arsenal’s reserves. Balogun’s England U21 boss, Lee Carsley, reckons the goalscorer could do with a loan spell for a harder ‘test’.

The latest Arsenal starlet hoping to make a name for himself is 18-year-old Khayon Edwards. He is highly rated by Gunners coaches, having notched nine goals and four assists this term.

But the Daily Mail write that Arsenal are ‘struggling’ to keep him in north London. The attacker is in the final year of his scholarship. Normally by this time a professional contract is ready to be signed, but not in the case of Edwards.

The two parties are yet to agree terms, putting his future at the club into doubt.

Premier League rivals Chelsea are keeping tabs on the player and could take him across London. Interest also arises from Bundesliga sides RB Leipzig, Gladbach and Leverkusen, among others.
