Seb Stafford-Bloor has been speaking on the latest edition of The Athletic’s Tifo Podcast about Kingsley Coman, arguing that the Frenchman would do a good job at Arsenal.
The £58.5m-rated 25-year-old made 39 appearances for Bayern Munich in the 2020/21 season, in which he scored eight goals and provided 15 assists.
However, Stafford-Bloor thinks he could benefit from a move away and name-checked the Gunners as a potential destination.
He said: “I think he’s one of those players that needs a stable position. He also needs to be somewhere where a manager just thinks, ‘you are in my starting 11 every single week’.
“I think that benefits him. I think you could put him at somewhere like Arsenal. I think he’d do very well. I think there’s a really good player there. I always go back to that game in the Champions League between Bayern and Juventus, when Juve went two up, and Cuadrado scored that lovely goal on the counter. Bayern came back to win it, and it was all about Coman; he was unplayable.”
Do you think Coman would be a good signing for the Gunners?
Yes, he would be fantastic
No, we don’t need him
TIF Thoughts on Coman…
The game that Stafford-Bloor talks about happened in 2016, where Bayern scored all four of their goals after Coman came off the bench, so you can see why he remembers that match.
Despite being just 25, Coman has played for the likes of Juventus, Bayern and PSG, and has won 24 trophies. He has also made 31 appearances for his country.
However, at Bayern, he faces intense competition from the likes of Leroy Sane, so you could see why he might want to leave.
If he were to join Arsenal, that could be an excellent signing for the Gunners. Coman can play on either wing and has scored 42 goals and provided 52 assists across his senior career at club level.
With senior options on the wing arguably scarce at the Emirates Stadium, he could be the man to perhaps take Arsenal on to the next level and certainly help them improve on their eighth-place finish in the league.
