LENS, FRANCE – NOVEMBER 08: Loic Bade of RC Lens runs with the ball during the Ligue 1 match between RC Lens and Stade Reims at Stade Bollaert-Delelis on November 8, 2020 in Lens, France.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Leeds United all wanted to sign Loic Bade – but they have officially missed out on signing the Frenchman.

Reports from Calciomercato, Le10 Sport and Foot Mercato in recent weeks have suggested that the Premier League trio want to sign Bade.

Bade is only 21 but has quickly thrived at Lens, being branded the new Raphael Varane – another centre back who excelled with Lens.

Given the financial issues in France football, many anticipated Bade moving on this summer – but he won’t be heading to the Premier League.

Rennes have now confirmed the signing of Bade, handing him a five-year deal as he decides to stay in Ligue 1.

Ouest-France now report that Rennes struck a deal worth around €20million (£17million), with only £2.5million of that paid on add-ons or bonuses.

Rather than make a huge move to the Premier League at a young age, Bade has made a move to a bigger French side – possibly an intermediate move before then landing his big transfer.

That’s not what Varane did, but maybe Arsenal, Liverpool and Leeds will be back in for Bade in the future as the centre back prepares to stay in France.
