Wales announced themselves to Euro 2020 on Wednesday evening as a standout performance by talisman Gareth Bale ensured they are in pole position to join fellow Group A members Italy in the last 16.
The on-loan Tottenham forward assisted goals for both Aaron Ramsey and Connor Roberts and, despite missing a penalty himself, picked up the man of the match award in the 2-0 victory.
Ramsey, the scorer of the opener just before half-time, was also left to rue missed chances himself after failing to convert another chance before the break.
However, the Welsh now look likely to progress despite facing Italy in their final group game next week.
Off the pitch, one member of the Wales squad is being linked with a shock return to his former club.
According to Italian outlet Tuttomercato, Ramsey is being targeted by his former side Arsenal, as well as a number of other Premier League clubs.
The 30-year-old left Arsenal for Juventus two years ago and, despite enduring a number of injuries during his time in Turin, won his first ever league title during his first season with the club, winning the Serie A.
It is suggested that Arsenal’s interest is firmly in its early stages, whereas fellow London rivals Crystal Palace and West Ham United boast a more solid interest.
The player’s wage demands could rule both West Ham and Palace out of a potential deal, however, while Arsenal are more likely to be able to afford him.
The report also suggests that Ramsey believes his time in Italy is not yet over, and says that he is keen to continue with the club and prove his worth after a disappointing first two years with the Old Lady.
