The Sun are reporting that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are interested in signing Kieran Trippier, a player Tottenham Hotspur sold just two years ago.

What’s the story?

It is being reported by The Sun tonight (10:30pm) that Arsenal want to sign former Tottenham right-back Trippier from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window.

The Gunners have already ‘sounded out’ the La Liga champions about a potential deal.

Atletico have told them that they want £34 million for the England international defender.

Tottenham sold the 30-year-old to the Madrid outfit for £20 million in 2019, as reported by The Telegraph at the time.

Manchester United are also interested in Trippier, according to The Sun, but they are willing to pay only £20 million.

Could Kieran Trippier join Arsenal?

Arsenal are reportedly looking at Trippier as a replacement for Hector Bellerin, who is set to leave the Gunners.

The 30-year-old Englishman is a very good right-back who is still at the top of his game and would make the Gunners better.

However, Trippier is a former Tottenham player.

The England international will know how controversial it will be for him to move to Arsenal after playing for Spurs.

It is also quite interesting that Arsenal manager Arteta is willing to sign a player who was turning out for bitter North London rivals Spurs just two years back.
