The Algarve Cup 2022 is pencilled in to take place between 14 – 22 February 2022.
The annual international friendly tournament is a firm favourite among global football fans, established in 1994 it’s one of the most anticipated events in the women’s football calendar.
Last year, the tournament was not contested due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic – this was the first time since its inception that the competition would not take place. The 2020 edition having been affected with the cancellation of the Final between Germany and Italy.
The tournament hosted in Portugal serves as great preparation for international teams set to compete in competitive competitions such as the UEFA Women’s EURO.
Competing teams for the 2022 Algarve Cup are yet to be confirmed aside from Portugal, but we can rule out England, Spain, Canada and Germany who will compete at the Arnold Clark Cup 2022.
The most successful team at the Algarve Cup, USA, have not competed since they launched their own international friendly tournament, the SheBelieves Cup.
