Alfredo Morelos makes Copa America debut but Rangers star’s side fall to shock defeat

Rangers star Alfredo Morelos made his Copa America debut as he returned to action for the first time since his positive Covid test.

The striker is away with Colombia but missed the first two games of the tournament as he continued his recovery from the virus.

But he was introduced as a late substitute in the early hours of Monday morning as Colombia crashed to a surprise defeat against a Peru side that had conceded five against Brazil.

He was brought on as Colombia chased an equaliser after Everton star Yerry Mina put one in his own net after Miguel Borja cancelled out Sergio Pena’s opener.

But the Rangers striker couldn’t find a way to help his side get on level terms and they fell to defeat to leave them with just four points from their first three games.

Rangers news and features

The Ibrox frontman is reportedly considering a move to Porto after suggestions his agent had met with the Portugeuse giants over the weekend.

Morelos had looked to leave the club last summer when Lille came in to sign him before then playing a major part in Steven Gerrard’s side winning the Premiership title.

But a move to Porto could be too difficult for him to turn if they can agree a fee with Rangers.
