Al Ahly of Egypt have won the African Super Cup trophy for the seventh time after defeating “Renaissance Sportive De Berkane” of Morocco 2-0 in Doha, Qatar on Friday.
In the 57th minute, Mohamed Sherif put Al Ahly ahead, and Salah Mohsine increased the lead in the 82nd minute for the Egyptians, who now have the best continental record in the African Super Cup.
“I would like to congratulate Al Ahly on their triumph, as well as the two clubs on their performance today. The performance of both clubs was equal in the first half, in which we missed real opportunities, but in the second half, Al Ahly could score goals from the very few occasions they had.” Mohamed El Aziz, The Moroccan left- back of “RSB”, commented to the media after the game.
Al Ahly travelled to Qatar to play the Super Cup as the Champion’s League title holder, while “RSB” are currently the Confederation Cup title holders.
The 2021 trophy takes the total number of trophies won by the Egyptian clubs have won so far to 11, including four by Zamalek SC, while Moroccan clubs have won the same trophy four times, including two were by Raja Club Athletic, one by Moghreb De Fes, and one by Wydad Athletic Club.
