FORMER Aberdeen star Theo ten Caat insists the club’s current players ‘can’t trust’ Scott Brown.
And he reckons appointing the Celtic legend as a player-coach was the biggest mistake of Stephen Glass’ tenure.
The Dons are currently searching for a new manager after Glass was sacked yesterday following the team’s Scottish Cup defeat to Motherwell.
Barry Robson has been placed in interim charge of the first team in the meantime, with Brown working as part of his coaching staff.
However, former Aberdeen star Ten Caat reckons the players will never be able to trust the skipper.
The Dutchman played under Willie Miller when he had Roy Aitken as both his assistant and player.
And he insists he would never have allowed a repeat of that at Pittodrie.
Ten Caat tweeted: “#StephenGlass out #aberdeenfc. Biggest mistake he made #appointment #friend #celtic #assistant #manager and #player #scottbrown.
“Same at my time at #aberdeenfc #williemiller friend #royaitken #player #assistantmanager #friendship.
“Doesn’t feel good #dressingroom tell you that.”
When asked by a fan if players don’t like their team-mates also working as an assistant to the manager, Ten Caat was unequivocal.
He said: “No, he’s in the management, talking about his dressing room colleagues, and influence, deciding who to play and how to play.

“I would never allow that.
“You can’t trust him, you can’t make jokes about the manager and freely talk about training sessions and games. Impossible situation.”
Aberdeen have confirmed that a recruitment process for Glass’ successor is already underway as Robson begins work as interim boss.
In a statement last night, the club said: “The club confirms it has now put in place an interim coaching team to oversee first team affairs until a new manager is appointed.

“Led by Barry Robson, who will step up from his role with the U18s, the coaching team will comprise of Neil Simpson, Scott Anderson and team captain, Scott Brown.
“The interim coaching staff will hold their first training session with the playing squad tomorrow as they prepare for the visit of St Johnstone to Pittodrie in the cinch Premiership.
“The recruitment process for a new management team has now commenced.
“An update will be communicated in due course, but for now, everyone at the club is fully focussed on the important match on Tuesday evening.”
