Chelsea Football Club has a rich history of success. The club has won six League titles, eight FA Cups, two UEFA Europa Leagues, two UEFA Champions Leagues and many more trophies from when it first came into existence.

The 21st century has been full of success for the club, however, the 2021/2022 season hasn’t ended the way the club, team, and fans wanted it to. Despite being incredibly successful recently, by winning the 2020/2021 Champions League, the 2021/2022 UEFA Supercup, and the 2021/2022 Fifa Club World Cup, Chelsea have been very misfortunate as of late.

In fact, this season, the team finished 3rd in the 2021/2022 Premier League table, lost the 2021/2022 FA Cup Final and the 2021/2022 Carabao Cup finals both to Liverpool on penalties, got knocked out of the Champions League in the Quarter Finals vs Real Madrid, bid farewell to legendary ex-club owner Roman Abramovich, and most recently have been struggling to renew contracts of players with expired contracts and contracts soon to be expired in 2023.

Despite winning a few trophies, the year has been a tough one for Chelsea, and the club must make an effort to keep its best players to continue with its winning ways next season. Here are the four of those players Chelsea must keep at all costs:

Marcos Alonso

Chelsea should try their best to keep Marcos Alonso as one of those players. He has been at the club since 2016 and has proven himself as one of the best fullbacks in Europe.

Alonso currently plays on the left side of the defence but could also play on the right side if needed by Tuchel. He has scored twenty-nine goals and recorded 23 assists ever since joining, which is a great achievement for a defender.

He’s been an important player for Chelsea’s most recent achievements, and the 212 appearances since joining prove this. Alonso has been linked with Barcelona recently, but Chelsea needs to try their best to keep him and renew his contract because his statistics don’t lie.

Jorginho

Jorginho is one of the best defensive midfielders in the world and has been great for Chelsea since his arrival from Napoli in 2018. Jorginho has scored 26 goals and given 8 assists in his 188 appearances for Chelsea. His calmness on the ball, movement off the ball, and his ability to control the tempo of the game are why he’s still worth £45m still at the age of 30. Jorginho has been linked to many teams such as Juventus and Roma already, and with a contract expiring in 2023 it might be best for Chelsea to start negotiating a new one with him and his agent. He’s a European Champion and played a huge role in Chelsea’s recent successes, so he’s definitely worth keeping.

Kai Havertz

He’s an important player for Chelsea, and we can never forget his performance vs City in the 2020/2021 Champions League final, and the emotion on his face when he scored the winning goal for his side was as if he won the jackpot at the Platin online casino UK, which shows just how much it meant to him.

Havertz has had magical seasons with Chelsea ever since his arrival, and many clubs will be looking to try and snatch him away this summer after yet another amazing season.

There will undoubtedly be huge bids for him this summer, but Chelsea needs to hang onto their stars, especially with players like Havertz whom they can plan a whole team around. The quality he brings to Chelsea will be difficult to replace, so they must try their best to resist the high bids which will definitely come in this summer.

Romelu Lukaku

Last but not least, Romelu Lukaku. Lukaku is a world-class striker who has demonstrated his ability to push his squad to victory numerous times. There is no doubt about the quality Lukaku brings to the table. The last season was a challenging one for Lukaku, as he struggled with fitness, injuries, Tuchel’s tactics, and chemistry with the team on the pitch.

These four are all things that can be improved upon before the start of next season. There have already been rumours about a return to Inter Milan and a shock move to Spurs. Lukaku’s contract with Chelsea ends in 2026, so they’re definitely going to need to splash the cash in order to sign him. Despite the rumours, Chelsea should hang on to him for this season as he’s a winner, and that’s what Chelsea needs in their team – Winners.
