On Friday, one man was killed and another seriously injured after gunshots were fired at the H-Cup, an inter-regional football tournament held at La Martine stadium in the 15th arrondissement in Marseille.
The incident is being described as a drive-by shooting, with the men shot at both being footballers participating in the tournament.
Psychological support is being offered to spectators who witnessed the scene, with Marseille police having opened a formal investigation into the incident.
As a result of Friday’s events, the HCup has been cancelled and will not be completed this year.
