🇮🇹 Hellas Verona vs Fiorentina
Hellas have lost just one of their last seven games on home soil, while Fiorentina sits sixth in the table and have won seven of their last eight away matches against Verona in all competitions. Much of the entertaining hosts’ good work is down to Argentinians striker Giovanni Simeone, 10 of his 14 direct goal contributions this season have come at home.
It’s also difficult to ignore 21-year-old Dušan Vlahović, Serie A’s leading marksman, who has scored 12 of his 16 league goals during the second half of matches. There have been over 2.5 goals scored in each of Fiorentina’s last six league games, while nine of Hellas’ last 10 home games in Serie A have also seen over that tally. This should be fun to watch.
🇮🇹 Inter vs Torino
Inter clocked their sixth consecutive league victory over the weekend which ensures that they will spend the festive period at the top of the Serie A tree. The Nerazzurri has scored 16 goals in Serie A following their last one conceded, and they’re the only remaining unbeaten side at home (W6 D2). With Torino winning just one of their eight away assignments this term, Inter will be confident they can make it seven wins on the bounce.
🇮🇹 Roma vs Sampdoria
Roma breathed new life into their hopes of a top-four finish with a 4-1 demolition of Atalanta with a superb counter-attacking display on Saturday. Sampdoria has scored the opener in each of their last three away games so they’ll travel here with some confidence, but the reality is that they’ve won just one of their last five. Both sides scored in all five of those encounters though.
🏴 Brentford vs Chelsea
It will have been 12 days since Brentford last played by the time their meeting with Chelsea kicks off. The Bees saw clashes with Man United and Southampton postponed due to COVID-19. Chelsea’s squad has been hit hard by COVID issues, compounding their worrying run of form that has seen them win just one of their last five. The 0-0 draw at Wolves was unsurprisingly scrappy, and this could be similarly cagey and hard-fought.
🏴 Liverpool vs Leicester
Liverpool claimed a point at Tottenham on Sunday night as they lost ground in the race for the title. Back on home turf, they’ll be confident of extending their winning run at Anfield to seven games. Leicester has failed to win any of their last four games on the road, and they may be a bit rusty here as their last match was ten days ago. A 2-2 draw at Southampton was followed by a 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa and a 3-2 defeat at Napoli in recent away games in all competitions for the Foxes. Brendan Rodgers’ side is clearly not enjoying its travels.
The Foxes have been inconsistent this season and have struggled when faced up to the best sides, losing five out of seven in the Premier League against teams currently occupying places in the top half of the table. They have scored in 11 of their last 12 on the road, though, and nine of their last 12 of that type have produced over 2.5 goals.
Jurgen Klopp will rotate his side but can still rely on quality attackers in the shape of Takumi Minamino & Roberto Firmino as current rotation options.
