This is a tricky time to suggest Buy, Hold, and Sell ahead of FPL Gameweek 7. We’re close to prime Wildcard territory, in-form Brighton are potentially about to lose Graham Potter, Tuchel’s had a shock sacking and we’ve had a blank for Brighton and Crystal Palace upcoming in GW8 – I’m going to be making relatively short-term suggestions with these in mind.

FPL Gameweek 7 Transfer Tips: Two players to BUY
1) Marcus Rashford (6.5, MID, Manchester United)
6.5 million priced midfielder playing out-of-position as forward for Manchester United – what’s not to like! Rashford’s racked up nearly 2 xGI over his last 2 games. He has Crystal Palace and Leeds in his next 2 games heading into the International break. He’s very kindly priced, an easy pickup if you’re in the market for a midfielder.
2) Alexander Isak (7.0, FWD, Newcastle United)
Aside from Kieran Trippier and Nick Pope, who are both excellent assets to own on their own merit, Isak is a differential option that stands out to me this week. The classy Swede has notched up an xG of 1.22 from his last two starts, including 1 against Liverpool – and this excluded quality finishes from goals ruled out for offside. He’s looked positive and focal to an impressive Newcastle side heading into a very good run in the short to medium term. There’s suddenly a whole host of forwards making a case for inclusion in our teams but if you feel like you’ve missed the train on Toney and would want to wait 1 more week to bring in Mitrovic – Isak is a great differential pick for an upcoming wildcard or otherwise.

FPL Gameweek 7 Transfer Tips: Two players to HOLD
1) Gabriel Jesus (8.1, FWD, Arsenal)
Nearly 227k transfers out already at the time of writing – the most for any FWD on FPL this week – the Brazilian is being sold on the back of a blank against Manchester United while cheap forward options all delivered. However, he did have 2 shots and 5 key passes in that game against Manchester United and has also racked up close to 1.9 xGI himself over his last 2 games. He comes up against an Everton side that’ve looked inconsistent at the back and there’s rumours of an injury to Jordan Pickford ruling him out of the game too – Jesus is comfortably a hold this week.

2) Reece James (6.0, DEF, Chelsea)
Not really too much encouraging by way of stats for this one but this is my opinion as a Chelsea fan. Chelsea have been in a slump and despite that, James has shone with his offensive output for FPL. There’s bound to be a reaction and dare I say – even potentially new manager bounce – for James this weekend against Fulham. With a point to prove, angry and disappointed from an embarrassing loss in Europe midweek, I’m backing Chelsea to bounce back here against Fulham and keeping hold off their chief attacking threat is probably a reasonable idea. Fair warning to all 110k+ sellers.

FPL Gameweek 7 Transfer Tips: Two players to SELL
1) Ivan Perisic (5.6, DEF, Tottenham Hotspur)
As this weekend showed, rotation will loom large on Perisic with midweek fixture congestion. Even though Sessegnon looked very bright, Perisic remains the best option at left wing-back but that might work to his detriment from an FPL point of view after starting the Champions League game midweek, Man City at the weekend and Champions League game midweek again resulting in a potential rest against Leicester City to follow. With his imminent short-term schedule being Man City followed by a likely rest, I think it’s a good time to hop off Perisic for his 25.9% ownership.

2) Aaron Ramsdale (4.9, GK, Arsenal)
This might be the first time I’ve featured a goalkeeper anywhere on this list at all. Ramsdale was a popular pick last season as his combination of facing a large number of low xG shots led to save points and bonus. However, this season, that pattern has changed and he’s only made 11 saves in 6 games – under 2 per game. He’s also conceding goals meaning he’s not really racking up save points or clean sheet points. Sanchez (has a potential upcoming blank), Nick Pope, and David Raya have all shown themselves to be excellent options capable of doing both.
