FPL GW4 Captaincy poll ~ Wisdom Of the Crowd
Haaland tops the captaincy poll for Gameweek 5 with over 50% of the votes and it was widely expected after his 17 points haul against Crystal Palace. Underlying Numbers of the FPL Gameweek 5 Captain picks
Haaland once again dominates the other captaincy choices for individual stats with 17 shots inside the box and a whopping 10 big chances. Kane is the second best for big chances with 5 of them. Salah has created more chances(15) than even KDB(14) which is quite surprising. Salah has decent numbers but the likes of Haaland, Jesus, and Kane have all had brilliant starts to the season which means Salah only ranks fourth in the player’s attack rank based on xG.

Underlying Numbers of the Candidate’s Teams
Liverpool have the most shots inside the box(56) amongst the candidate’s team but it’s Man City that dominates the big chances with 17 of them 3 more than Liverpool who have 14 themselves. The 9-0 win over Bournemouth means Liverpool have closed the bridge to Man City and Arsenal in terms of xG but it’s still Man City(8.82) and Arsenal(8.0) ahead of Liverpool(7.97). Spurs have decent numbers but aren’t close to Man City, Liverpool and Arsenal yet.
Fixture Difficulty of the candidate team in FPL GW5
The odds are phenomenally in favour of Man City with a whopping 96% of odds of at least one goal and 73% odds of at least two goals vs newly promoted Nottingham Forest at home. Liverpool are second with a 90% odds of one goal and 50% chances of 2+ goals, Newcastle being a tricky side means the chances of 2+ goals are lesser compared to Man City. Arsenal have good odds as well against struggling Aston Villa with an 85% chance of one goal and 38% chance of 2+ goals. A tricky game against West Ham means Spurs are the last in terms of fixture difficulty.

Conclusion – Final Rank from our FPL Gameweek 5 Captaincy metric analysis
It’s a clean sweep for Haaland getting the lowest possible CRF of 4 in the metrics. Only rarely does a player top the metrics with such low CRF(Cumulative Rank Factor), KDB is second with a CRF of 8 having topped the Safety + Explosion Rank with Haaland. Salah is only third with a CRF of 14 with Jesus close behind with a CRF of 15. Kane finishes last with a CRF of 16.
