Gamers in London are being given the opportunity to tackle a real life obstacle course officially put together by the UK developer behind Fall Guys – Mediatonic – and Virgin Media.
The ultrafast broadband network provider is recreating ‘Fall Mountain’ with a Gladiators’ inspired travelator experience, giving participants the chance to win an exclusive Virgin Media/Fall Guys goodie bag to take home.
The travelator is a slanted hill that moves towards the participants, encouraging them to run up it as fast as they can.
Virgin Media has teamed up with Mediatonic’s Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout to bring the ‘ultimate gaming experience’ to EGX 2021 at London’s ExCel Centre between Thursday October 7th and Sunday October 10th 2021.
Virgin Media’s stand at EGX 2021 will be the only place that attendees can play Fall Guys at the gaming event.
Players can also compete with friends in Fall Guys’ ‘Squads’ mode against other online teams from around the world, with the most skilled squads at EGX being presented with exclusive Fall Guys IRL crowns and a chance of winning a PS5.
The online mode will be powered by Virgin Media’s ultrafast broadband, and Virgin says that players will be in ‘peak Fall Guys stumbling condition, with the fastest widely available speeds in the UK available at their fingertips’.
In addition to the hands-on gameplay with Fall Guys and the Fall Mountain challenge, visitors to the Virgin Media EGX stand will be able to take an exclusive look at upcoming collectible Fall Guys plush and figurines.
Virgin Media customers can also claim an exclusive 50% discounted EGX ticket. These are limited to the first 5,000 claimants using this Virgin Media EGX page. These tickets also come with ‘Fast Track’ entry to Virgin Media’s Fall Guys stand.
Virgin Media’s website is also giving away a pair of free tickets to EGX.
Amy Gilbert, head of marketing strategy & sponsorships at Virgin Media, said: “We are so excited to be teaming up with Mediatonic and Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout, one of the most fun and played games over the past year.
“We will debut our partnership at EGX and our stand will be the only place where visitors can play the game, compete with friends in online competitions, and physically jump into the Fall Guys world by attempting to conquer Fall Mountain. This is all part of Virgin Media giving its customers unforgettable experiences thanks to our gigabit broadband.”
Josh Tarrant, head of partnerships at Mediatonic, added: “It’s been a fantastic experience collaborating with Virgin Media, working with a partner who share our passion and excitement for connecting players through positive online gaming experiences.
“We’re delighted to team up to bring EGX attendees a taste of the greatest gameshow in the universe and can’t wait to share in all the Fall Guys fun.”
Virgin Media and EGX say they’re following all the latest government Covid protocols to focus on the safety of guests at EGX.
Back in 2015, Virgin Media held an esports hexathlon challenge, which saw UK Hearthstone caster Raven named ‘UK’s best gamer’.
Fall Guys launched last year, and the popular party game got review-bombed after release, prompting the game’s developers to take action.
