Gary Anderson has described his current form as “absolutely rotten” as he prepares to face old adversary Michael van Gerwen in the Premier League Darts on Tuesday night (Van Gerwen 8/11, Anderson 13/5, Tie 18/5 – Match Betting).
The Flying Scotsman claimed a 7-5 victory over Robert Cross on Monday to move up to fifth in the standings and he is only a point off top spot on what is a congested leaderboard.
However, the two-time world champion has been far from happy with his overall form during the tournament and he feels now is a good time to be playing him considering his ongoing struggles.
“I think you’ve seen the ugly, the bad and the really ugly. It was terrible. Like I say, one minute the throw is fine, next minute it’s gone,” Anderson told reporters following his victory over Cross.
“I’ve got nothing, there’s no consistency whatsoever. It’s a good time to play me I can tell you that for a fact, I’m absolutely rotten.”
Anderson (10/1 to win the Premier League) will now take on five-time Premier League champion Van Gerwen in the pick of Tuesday’s matches, with the omens not looking good for the 50-year-old based on his recent record, losing nine of his last 10 meetings with MVG.

Peter Wright and James Wade may be seventh and ninth respectively in the standings heading into their encounter on Tuesday, but with just three points separating the top-nine players, there is still everything to play for.
Indeed, the only player that is out of contention for a top-four finish is defending champion Glen Durrant, who has now lost all six of his matches in the Premier League this season following his 7-3 defeat to van Gerwen on Monday.
The world number 13 must now win his final three games of phase one to have any chance of surviving, starting with Tuesday’s clash with Jose de Sousa (Durrant 8/1, De Sousa 1/4, Tie 11/2 – match result).
