Without scoring a half-century, Kohli’s England tour came to an end. With scores of 16 and 17, Kohli was dismissed off left-arm quicks Reece Topley and David Willey in the two ODIs.

He scored 1 and 11 in the two T20I matches. In the previous Test match at Edgbaston, Kohli scored 11 and 20 in the first and second innings, respectively, before being dismissed while poking to the slip cordon. In all formats, Kohli’s century drought has now lasted 79 innings.

‘He changed the mindset of the team’: Arun Lal

Arun Lal, a former Indian batter who played for his country from 1982 to 1989, commented on this and discussed how Virat Kohli’s leadership has helped create this intriguing new style of cricket.

“There was a time when securing a draw was considered to be a success in Test cricket. However, my perspective has changed, and I completely credit Virat Kohli,” Lal remarked on Jagran TV.

“He altered the team’s perspective and forced them to compete without fear of defeat. The impact Kohli has had on Indian red-ball cricket since taking over captaincy midway through the 2014–15 Australia tour speaks for itself even though he was ousted as the Test team’s captain late in 2021 and is currently struggling with runs” Arun Lal stated.

After India’s white-ball tour in the Caribbean, Kohli was given a break. Following that, India’s next tasks are a brief trip to Zimbabwe and the Asia Cup T20s, which may be held in the United Arab Emirates in August.
