The middleweight title fight between Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall, originally set to take place tomorrow (September 10), will now go ahead on October 15
AS expected, tomorrow’s all-female BOXXER event at London’s O2 Arena, headlined by the middleweight title fight between Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall, has been cancelled.
The event had been in the balance following the death yesterday of Her Majesty The Queen and now the British Boxing Board Board of Control have taken the decision to pull the event completely.
“The British Boxing Board of Control have decided that all tournaments this weekend will be postponed as a mark of respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” a statement read. “We join a nation in mourning and pay tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, honouring her dedication to our country during her long reign and the legacy she leaves behind.”
The event is now due to take place on October 15, again at London’s O2 Arena.
