Badminton England today confirms that, by mutual consent Peter Jeffrey will step down from the role of Head Coach with immediate effect.
Pete has been a part of the National Coaching team since 2006 after retiring from playing in 2005, and in 2017 took on the role as Head Coach for Badminton England.
After representing England five times and holding a best ranking of 11th in the world for mixed and the top 20 in the world for doubles, Pete retired in 2005 and made the transition into coaching – his love for the technical elements of the sport made this a natural next step.
As a coach, Pete has attended three Commonwealth Games, three Olympic Games and countless World and European Championships. He has cited the 2011 World Championships in London as a break-through moment – overseeing Chris Adcock and Imogen Bankier reaching the final and securing a silver medal from an unseeded draw. Other notable highlights are Chris and Gabby Adcock winning back to back European and Commonwealth gold medals and also gold at the 2015 World Tour Finals in Dubai.
Badminton England Chair, Mike Robinson, said “After sixteen years with us as a National Coach and subsequently Head Coach, Peter has had many successes coaching a number of England’s and GB’s top players. We wish him all the best in the future.”

About his departure Peter said “I am incredibly proud to have worked within a sport I love for such a long period of time. I wish to thank BE for that opportunity, the amazing staff I have been fortunate enough to work with for all their support and dedication during my 16 years there and most importantly thank the many talented players I worked with and achieved success with, I will cherish those memories. Lastly I’d like to wish the current group of players and staff all the best for the future.”
