Olympics ace Denise Lewis thought she was going through the menopause before learning she was pregnant again at 46.
The Sydney 2000 gold medal-winning heptathlete, 48, admitted she was “dreading” the change and thought it was starting when her body began rejecting alcohol.
Denise thinks fourth child Troy, now two, may have even delayed the onset of the menopause.
She said: “I’m actually dreading [the menopause]. I think Troy might have delayed my onsets. I did think I might be perimenopausal rather than pregnant.”
The sports presenter told the White Wine Question Time podcast that she was on a plane flying back from Australia at the time of the confusion.

She said: “I was travelling in business class. It was very nice and I thought ‘this is my opportunity to really go through all the wines and the spirits’.
“No such joy.
“The first glass of wine I tried tasted revolting, ‘Sorry, can I change it?’.
“Second… then I went on to champagne next… and I couldn’t drink a thing. The cogs started turning – ‘Why is my body rejecting alcohol? What’s wrong with me?’ Troy was being formed.”
Denise has a daughter from a previous marriage and three children with pop manager husband Steve Finan O’Connor.
She said didn’t tell her mother she was pregnant with Troy for “weeks”.
She said: “At 46 I was still concerned what my mum would think. Seriously.”
