Men’s Track & Field Takes Second at Black & Gold Invite

Central Connecticut men’s track and field performed well at the Black & Gold Invite Saturday, finishing second as a team with 122 points.

Ali Diaby took home the gold in the 200 meter race with a 21.43 finish time, .53 ahead of second place. Hank Jean-Jacques was right behind Diaby with a 22.47 finish that placed him fifth. Isreal Henriques-Setho was 13th in the race with a 23.07 time, while Alex Pratcher snuck in the top 20 with a 19th place 23.54 time.

Eddie Nicholas grabbed the Blue Devils’ second gold of the day in the 5000 meter race. The sophomore notched CCSU 10 points with a 14:57.15 time. Mark Rodriguez was right behind him in sixth place with a 15:32.89 finish.

Yankarlos Diaz won the third gold of the day for CCSU in the 3000 meter steeple race. The sophomore finished in 9:40.29, 14 seconds ahead of second place. Sean Oushana finished fourth at 10:28.

The Blue Devils dominated the relay section of the day, taking gold in the 4×100 meter race with a team of Jovan Dixon, Diaby, Fye-Moore and Loth that finished in 41.22.

Diaby, Fye-Moore, Walton and Dixon won another gold for CCSU in the 4×400 meter relay, finishing the race in 3:15.89.

The Blue Devils were well represented in the men’s 100 meter race. Miles Fye-Moore finished second at 10.80 while teammate Tyler Loth rounded out the top five with a 10.94 finish. Jovan Dixon placed seventh at 11.02.

Henriques-Setho placed second in the long jump with a 6.77 meter jump.

Andrew McCarthy finished second discus event, scoring a 47.97 meter mark. Tyrone Mack was behind him in fourth with a 43.98 mark.

Jason Walton placed fourth in the 400 meter race at 50.39, and Jean-Jacques grabbed his second top 10 finish of the day with a 51.31 time that landed him an eighth place finish.

Cam Whalen also had a fourth place finish in the 400 meter hurdle race. The junior had a 56.59 finish time. Shawn Akomeah finished in the top 10 as well, finishing just past a minute.

Ed Radzion finished fifth in the shot put event with a 15.35 meter toss.

Jake Ireland notched an eighth place finish in the 1500 meter race with a 3:57.63 time.
