Taunton Titans v Plymouth Albion – 3:00 pm K/O – Veritas Park, Taunton TA2 8BU
Plymouth Albion are set to travel away for matchday two of the National League One season as they face a trip to Taunton Titans.
The boys will be grateful for the just over three-hour round trip this week, as opposed to the tiring 10-hour voyage to Cambridge and back.
Albion took two losing bonus points following a battling second half performance full of grit and determination on the road against a superb Cambridge side.
Taunton also started away, and they came out winners at Leeds Tykes following an entertaining game that saw this weekend’s opponents take a 28-24.
They took four tries in the process, collecting an impressive full board of points from the opening day.
That gained them revenge for their final day defeat to Leeds last season, but that was a minor blemish on their otherwise impressive home form, winning seven at the Towergate Stadium.
Another three away from home helped them to eighth in the league, so this will another tricky encounter for the Albion to negotiate.
Plymouth lost one and won one of their two encounters with Taunton last campaign, with the Titans coming out 35-25 winners at home, before Albion took a 54-17 win at Brickfields towards the end of the season.
Travel:
It’s a trip up the A38 towards Kennford on Saturday morning, before switching onto the M5 and heading up towards Taunton and the Tower Gate Stadium.
There are still seats available on the supporters’ coach too. Simply email albitravel@gmail.com to book your place!
Weather:
It will be raining on Friday and Sunday, but the weather is set to stay away for gameday – it’s almost like it knows the National League season has started!
With light breezes, 22-Degree Celsius temperatures and a very small chance of rain, it should be a lovely day to head up and watch a game of Rugby.
Team News:
Damian Welch makes two changes to the 15 that started last Saturday’s encounter with Cambridge, as Shek Sheriff and Isaak Welch coming into the side, while Dan Collier has picked up a slight shoulder knock, so he is rested for the weekend.
