Italian centre-back Francesco Acerbi has joined Inter on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy at the end of it from Lazio.
Acerbi signed his new contract with the Nerazzurri after successfully completing his medicals at Milan today and is surely one of the transfers to watch from the deadline day.
According to a report from Gianluca di Marzio, Inter CEO Steven Zhang was at first against the move but said ‘yes’ afterwards due to Simone Inzaghi’s request for a backup central defender with the profile of Acerbi suiting what Inter needs. The Italian manager was intrigued by working with the player during his time at Lazio and this relationship facilitated the move.
It has been claimed that the veteran defender will not displace any first-team player and Milan Skriniar position is set to remain intact without the possibility of any serious competition from Acerbi.
Acerbi didn’t feature under Maurizio Sarri at Lazio this season after having a nightmarish 2021/22 campaign.
