MEDWAY – No. 5 Reading gave No. 1 Longmeadow everything it could handle for three quarters, and even took an 8-7 lead into halftime. Still, it was not enough. A dominant fourth frame by the Lancers, which featured four consecutive goals by freshman Gordon Leary, allowed Longmeadow to pull away for a 15-10 victory and punch their ticket back to the state finals for the second consecutive season.
“I’m ecstatic by the effort our guys showed and the points they took,” said Longmeadow head coach Keith Campbell. “We were in a little bit of a hole there and its just great to see all the work that we did pay off.”
