As reported by Bild, RB Leipzig’s Amadou Haidara (24) wants to fight for a place in Domenico Tedesco’s starting XI but is struggling to break into the squad despite an injury to Konrad Laimer.
Premier League duo Manchester United and Newcastle United showed interest in signing Haidara in January – the Mali international has three-years remaining on his current deal and RB Leipzig were also open to the possibility of selling Haidara this summer.
Speaking on the squad situation, Tedesco said: “This squad will start rolling. Players will collect their minutes when we have English weeks. You have to be patient and then you can get going when we have more games.”
Haidara played just 20 Bundesliga games last season but missed three games due to the African Cup of Nations, and then suffered a medial collateral ligament injury, missing a further seven Bundesliga games.
Haidara wanting to stay at RB Leipzig has come as a surprise, but there’s an opportunity for the Malian at the club under Tedesco.
