Jurgen Klopp has admitted that the Thiago injury is ‘not good’ in what represents another major blow for Liverpool.
Liverpool dropped two points in their Premier League opener following a 2-2 draw away to Fulham, a newly-promoted outfit.
Thiago was forced off with an unspecified injury early in the second half, adding to Klopp’s woes.
The Reds boss already has Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones sidelined through injury, while Naby Keita also missed the contest through illness.
With Thiago now absent, Liverpool are experiencing a crisis of midfield options.
Here’s what Klopp said after the game, via the club’s official website: “With Thiago that is, of course, not good and we will see.”
Thiago injury
It remains to be seen how severe the Spain international’s latest injury is.
And we say ‘latest’ because, well, the former Barcelona and Bayern maestro is becoming a tad prone to visits to the treatment room.
Liverpool supporters don’t need reminding about the 2020-21 campaign, when a dearth of centre-back options derailed their entire campaign.
And with the transfer window open, it’s imperative that Klopp does sign a midfielder to avoid the Reds suffering a similiar fate this time around.
The Anfield outfit have signed three players this summer – Fabio Carvalho, Darwin Nunez and Calvin Ramsay – but the boss needs to ask FSG to cough up additional funds for a midfielder.
Their season could depend on it.
