Scottish Women’s Football is thrilled to unveil that the official song for the 2022/23 season will be ‘Big Love’ by Scottish pop duo The Eves.
‘Big Love’ is an uplifting and empowering tune by the emerging pop duo comprising Marissa Keltie and Caroline Gilmour, best known for their 2021 iTunes top ten hit ‘Brand New Day’ which was Single of the Week on BBC Radio Scotland and playlisted on BBC Radio 2 for 5 weeks.
The duo broke through at the TRNSMT festival in 2019, steadily building in popularity by opening for The Shires, performing at the Tiree Music Festival, The Forth Awards and supporting Horse on her full UK-wide tour. The group will open for Belinda Carlisle on 29th July at Kelvingrove Bandstand.
‘Big Love’ will be the official anthem across the SWF performance competitions including the new national Scottish Women’s Championship and Scottish Women’s League One leagues which kick off in August, the Scottish Cup and the National Academy Programme.
Commenting, SWF chair Vivienne Maclaren said: “This is the first time SWF has had an official song for the whole season, but the positive and uplifting message of ‘Big Love’ is exactly what our clubs need as we head into a new season with fresh energy and new competitive national leagues.
“The pandemic effectively shut down football for women and girls for months, even when men’s clubs were given dispensation to play, and as we emerge into a new era for women’s football I think this hit by The Eves encapsulates the spirit of solidarity and positive role models that makes our game unique.”
Caroline and Marissa said: “We are honoured that ‘Big Love’ has been chosen as the official anthem of the Scottish Women’s Football season. We know that women and girls are inspiring and making history in playing fields across Scotland and it is humbling to know we will be part of their soundtrack this year.
“We look forward to seeing some footballing stars at our next gig at Room 2 in Glasgow on the 6 August!”
The deal will include the song being showcased in official SWF media, at major games and branded t-shirts with the ‘Big Love’ logo for each Championship and League One club.
