MLB Power Rankings: Astros overtake Yankees, Red Sox spiraling down
One bout at DWCS Week 1 is off thanks to a major weight miss.
On Tuesday the first batch of UFC hopefuls will step into the Octagon for their Dana White Contender Series bouts. Over the next 10 weeks, a handful of fighters will earn themselves the coveted contract.
One fighter, Willian Souza, seems to have already blown their chance thanks to weighing in at 146 pounds. That sounds perfectly fine until you realize that he weighed in for a bantamweight bout, not a featherweight one.
Souza’s opponent, Farid Basharat, successfully came in at the 136-pound limit. The 10-pound weight difference between the two men has caused officials to pull the contest entirely.

DWCS Week 1: Ozzy Diaz vs. Joe Pyfer fighter misses weight by 10 pounds
Souza has won 11 straight fights, having not lost since dropping his professional MMA debut. The Jungle Fight veteran most recently competed at Jungle Fight 106 in March, finishing Pacceli Afonso to claim the promotion’s vacant bantamweight title.
Headlining the first week of DWCS is a middleweight scrap between Ozzy Diaz (7-1) and Joe Pyfer (8-2). Diaz is on a five-fight tear with his most recent win coming via first-round TKO, earning him the LFA middleweight title.
Standing across from him is Pyfer who is coming off a recent second-round win over Austin Trotman, but hasn’t fought yet in 2022.
