Alastair Fisher is the latest star name to join the Déjà vu Ireland West on the 30th September – 1st October, 2022.
The 2020 Galway International Rally winner and winner of the 2022 Easter Stages, (the Circuit of Ireland replacement), will be adding to the Fisher rallying legacy by driving Kevin McGlynn’s immaculate Opel Manta 400 R, exactly similar to the car used by his famous uncle, Bertie Fisher, in the 1980s. Bertie took a while to conquer the wild winder event but following five podium finishes, he finally beat his Galway bogie in 1996 in a Subaru Impreza 555. He repeated that feat in 1999 and his co-driver on both occasions was Letterkenny’s Rory Kennedy.
The big names already confirmed for the 120 mile run over old Circuit of Ireland and Galway International Rally stages include, Austin MacHale, the six-time Galway International Rally winner; Jimmy McRae, a five-time British Rally Champion; John Lyons, two-time Donegal International winner; Dermott Carnegie, multiple English and Irish Rallycross Champion. Other big names are in the pipeline.
With eight to go before the closure of registration, 100 entries have been received. The entertainment package for the Gala Dinner has been finalised, and the permissions granted to give the event a spectacular start and finish in Westport.
