We know all about Oregon football’s top choices and the coaches who might be good fits with the Ducks. These options are more outside the box.
Oregon football’s coaching search is heating up lately.
Just days after Mario Cristobal up and left for Miami, the Ducks had to get to the drawing board and create a list of potential candidates. While we don’t know who the school is going “all-in” for, we do know that they have requested interviews with Justin Wilcox, Kalani Sitake, and now Chip Kelly. All three coaches are currently employed elsewhere.
Reports have come out that Wilcox will not be the guy and Sitake seems to be trending down in the coaching search, but the recent Kelly news is enticing.
There have also been rumors that Oregon is looking at a coach in the NFL which would be interesting because that would take a lot of prying to get them to leave a better, on paper, position to come coach college football.
Oregon has some options to work with and there are about 10-15 coaches that I could name that would be excellent hires for the Ducks, but they’re playing this one close to the vest.
With every coaching search, there are some guys who get overlooked that might actually be great fits. And I’m going to talk about three of those potential outside-the-box hires.
