Week 33 – Leicester vs Crystal Palace – Sport Grill

Leicester City welcome Crystal Palace to the King Power Stadium in Monday Night Football.

Victory will see Leicester stay third but move to within five points of second-placed Manchester United, whereas Palace will stay 13th no matter their result here.

Leicester have no fresh injury concerns to report after Thursday’s win over West Brom, as Harvey Barnes and James Justin remain absent with knee injuries.

Palace could be without Gary Cahill after an unspecified injury prevented him from training last week.

Nathaniel Clyne (muscle), Mamadou Sakho (thigh) and James Tomkins (eye) could be in contention if pass late fitness tests, whilst Michy Batshuayi will be available after being ineligible to face his parent club last time out in a 4-1 home loss to Chelsea.

James McArthur (muscle), Nathan Ferguson (thigh) and Connor Wickham (knock) remain absent.

Stat Attack

  • Leicester have taken just seven points from their last seven meetings against Crystal Palace (W2, D1, L4).
  • Palace have won two of their last five trips to Leicester (W2, L3).
  • Six of Kelechi Iheanacho’s nine league goals for Leicester this season have come on his left foot.
  • Only two of Palace’s last 11 away goals have come from defenders – Jairo Riedewald and Gary Cahill in 2-1 win at Newcastle in January.
  • Graham Scott is refereeing a Leicester match at the King Power Stadium for the first time since December 2019, in which the Foxes beat Everton 2-1.

Prediction

After defeating Southampton in the FA Cup last Sunday, Leicester seemed to have used that game as a launchpad to reignite their confidence because they just came out and ruthlessly dispatched West Brom with ease on Thursday evening.

Having not played for over two weeks since their defensive shambles against Chelsea, it is hard to predict how Palace will turn out because they will be fresh yet rusty which is a worry against a strong in-form Leicester team.

I however am hoping that we see Roy Hodgson’s Eagles come and at least make a meaty fight of this game given their recent form at the King Power Stadium, otherwise I can see another routine win for the Foxes coming.

Prediction: Leicester City 2-0 Crystal Palace
