To impose themselves to bounce back from the defeat in the Clasico and to stay in the footsteps of Real Madrid. This was the goal of FC Barcelona this Thursday evening when Getafe received as part of the 31st day. Faced with the team from the suburbs of Madrid, the Blaugranas (4th, 65 pts) therefore wanted to end the evening with three points in their pocket to return to two units from Casa Blanca with one game less. The Azulones (15th, 31 pts) had to take points for maintenance. Catalan side, Ronald Koeman relied on his trio Messi-Griezmann-Pedri in front. Joseph Bordalás Jiménez left him a 4-4-2 with Kubo and Angel in attack.
Faced with a team they had beaten 1-0 in the first leg, the Catalans quickly took matters into their own hands and we can say that there was no real observation round. Because on a service from Griezmann, Messi unleashed a heavy shot that ended on the crossbar before falling just in front of the goal line (4th). The visitors were already blowing but the opening goal was not long in arriving. Four minutes later, the Argentinian, covered by Djené, stung his ball perfectly (8th, 1-0). And definitely, we should not miss this start of the game. Because in the 12th minute, on a cross from Cucurella deflected by Angel, Lenglet unfortunately sent the leather into his own goal (12th, 1-1). Not enough, however, to doubt Barça.
Barça got scared all alone
Because by dint of playing the game, Ronald Koeman’s players regained the advantage. But not in the most beautiful way. Ball in the foot, Chakla played behind on Soria but the Moroccan defender, who had not seen the placement of his goalkeeper, scored against his camp (28th, 2-1). Behind, Messi signed a double by resuming one of his strikes on the post (34th, 3-1). At the break, the coaches made changes (2 Catalan side, 3 for Getafe). New blood was still brought in after the hour of play to shake things up. And the meeting knew precisely a new turning point. For his second real foray into the Catalan area, Getafe got a penalty thanks to the VAR for a foul by Araujo on Ünal. The Turkish striker himself took the ball and transformed this penalty into force to reduce the gap (69th, 3-2).
Largely dominated, the Azulones therefore remained in the game thanks to two “gifts” from FCB. The Blaugranas made this complicated end of the match, therefore, with opposing pressure until the end. But after his mistake, Araujo made up for it by scoring with a header from a corner from Messi (87th, 4-2). Unhappy until the end in the evening, Chakla touched Griezmann in the box and conceded a penalty. Quickly recovered, the French internatonal started and transformed (90th + 3, 5-2). Barça won this meeting and returned to Sevilla FC. Getafe remained fifteenth.
